A self-taught carpenter with a fearless DIY spirit and a penchant for problem-solving, Jen Woodhouse offers in-depth tutorials that inspire and encourage readers to build their way to a more beautiful home. The House of Wood is Jen’s creative outlet for all things DIY and design, a place where she documents her adventures in designing and building furniture and tackling home renovation projects. Jen is also a musician, military wife, and homeschooling mother of two. She and her family are currently stationed in central Kentucky.

We are a custom finish carpentry shop specializing in built-ins, cabinetry, millwork, trim, crown mouldings, wainscot and mantels. Our pieces are built to last a lifetime combining form and function to fit your needs. We live by our motto “Uncompromised Craftsmanship” by putting the highest level of care and detail into each piece regardless of the size or scope. It is our mission to create heirloom quality pieces to be enjoyed by your family for generations.

The Village Woodworker is based out of central Indiana just north of Indianapolis serving the Hoosier State from Fort Wayne to Evansville and everywhere in between.

We never intended to be a business owners.  Paul is actually a full-time electrical designer that has loved building furniture since he was in middle school.  He credits the Lord, his middle school shop teacher and men in his church for leading and teaching him how to make things out of wood.  Hope is a stay-at-home mom. We live just outside of Pittsburgh with our 4 children, sweet black lab & mischievous tomcat.  A few years ago, work reduced Paul's hours and with a full-house to support we started selling cake stands and farmhouse tables on craigslist. We now ship globally and are humbly featured in many homes, businesses, various magazines and online publications.  We don’t have a fancy shop or high end equipment. We just love to make things out of solid wood.
